FirstString Research is an early-stage private biotechnology company developing a pipeline of drugs for scar prevention, inflammation reduction, and complex tissue regeneration through the modulation of intercellular communication. The company intends to translate its R&D efforts into novel treatments for diseases or conditions relating to dermatology, inflammation, ophthalmology, diabetes, oncology, immunology, and regenerative medicine.
We seek a highly skilled and motivated doctoral research scientist with background related to biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology to join the post-doctoral program. The candidate will manage and execute one or more translational medicine initiatives by working closely with the executive team in identifying and prioritizing disease targets to further advance the company’s preclinical programs. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for screening external grant announcements, identifying opportunities for procurement, interpreting grant guidelines, leading, coordinating with external institutions, writing, editing, submitting applications, and executing on the plans for successful completion of awarded grants. The successful candidate will have high visibility and recognition.
Qualifications
The candidate will have a DVM, MD or PhD in biology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related fields from an accredited university. Laboratory research experience with cellular and animal models including handling, dosing, and monitoring animals is preferred. Experience relevant to wound healing research is a plus. The candidate should demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail in the laboratory, capable of independent problem solving, analytical skills, strong organization and time management skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, evidence of scientific productivity reflected in publications in peer-reviewed journals, grants, and independent laboratory work. The candidate should demonstrate the flexibility to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
